Toranj Kayvon is an Iranian-Canadian photographer and actor based in Los Angeles. She stepped into the world of fashion photography by learning about every aspect of it—from hair and makeup, to wardrobe styling, production and editing. Toranj’s trained eye for the various elements that create an image, allows her to service her clients as a photographer and as a creative director. In 2012 Toranj moved to the entertainment capital of the East, Mumbai, India where she launched her own production company. Toranj’s clients are among the biggest celebrities, magazines, advertising agencies and brands in the world. She has shot editorials for Vogue and Elle, Covers for Forbes and Rolling Stone, and ad campaigns for Bumble and Tresemme. Her clients also include JWT, Leo Burnett and Contract, to name a few advertising agencies. When Toranj was only 23 years old, she was one of the only females shooting behind the camera in the male dominated industry of photography. By the time Toranj was 26, she had risen to the top of her field as a photographer in one of the largest commercial and entertainment cities in the world.
In 2017 Toranj’s love for cinema lead her to enter the world of acting. During her time in India, Toranj performed in 5 different languages in major productions with the biggest names in Indian cinema, including a Blockbuster Hindi film called Kesari (Amazon Prime) that played in theatres globally, and a Disney Plus show called The Empire (Hulu). Since Toranj started working on the other side of the camera, she has developed a greater sense of the relationship between the camera and the subject and has deep, first hand insight, on how to direct subjects to create imagery with powerful presence.
